Via Duomo 34-38, 73016 San Cesario di Lecce LE, Puglia, Italy

You're based in the beating heart of San Cesario di Lecce – the small town on the outskirts of the baroque jewel of Lecce itself, around a 20-minute drive away. Closer to home, you're around the corner from the hauntingly beautiful, 17th-century Santa Maria delle Grazie Church, the religious cornerstone of the town. You're also an ancient stone's throw from the Civic Museum, based inside the imposing 17th-century Ducal Palace and full of local Salento artwork.

If historic churches are your thing, you're an easy walk to the other whopping 11 examples scattered around the town, or alternatively, head to the coast for rustic beauty and refreshing sea. The utterly charming seaside resorts of Porto Cesareo, Gallipoli and Otranto are all between 30-40 minutes' drive away. Otranto can also be reached directly by train in around 40 minutes, from San Cesario's station.
